Don't even bother. I had LS1 Edit and traded it in for HP Tuners. LS1 Edit is only an editor and their scanner sucks. HP Tuners it an editor and a scanner. Plus, it all uses one cable.

Yes....

HP Tunres provides 2 licenses at purchase.... but these aren't the same as LS1Edit licenses....

LS1 Edit Licenses = 2 cars... need 2 licenses (and the license is locked to the PCM ... back when I ran LS1 Edit.l.. I bought a spare PCM since I made my stock inoperable during an LS1 Edit flash... but my spare PCM .. even though it was flashed w/my VIN number.. would require another license to modify).. regardless of the model or year... you need to purchase 2 seperate licenses

HP Tuners = you get to pick 2 year/model licenses at purchase... meaning.... if you pick 99 V8 F-Bodies and 02 V8 F-Bodies... you can tune AS MANY as you want of each.....

when i got HPT I got 2000 V8 F-Bodies and later got a 2004 Grand Prix license (HPT provides V6 and V8 support... and more to come)

I now have 98,99,00,01,02 V8 F-Body and 04 GP licenses... I can modify/tune as many of those as I want ... In the last year I've helped at least 20 friends w/simple tuning issues (more via email as time allowed) ... stuff like case learns, shift point changes, deleted codes... no sense paying for a mail order tune or paying a dealership when I was able to do it as a friend

LS1Edit -

Its powerfull but the documentation SUCKS! Unfortunately, I think all the available programing software has documentation that SUCKS, however.

I'm not sure how anyone can still consider LS1Edit a serious contender in the tuning market. The two main players are EFILive and HPTuners. Both companies make a great package and continue to enhance the tunning/scanning packages.

Personally, I use EFILive.

Best thing you can do is decide what your needs are, then pick the software that suits you best.

www.efilive.com will give you all the detail you need to help you make a decision. Why buy edit when you wuold still have to purchase a scanner not to mention it has no where near the tuning capabilities of EFILive or HPTuners. Lots of tables are missing from Edit its unreal. I actually HATE looking at edit files and the editor program. FWIW

I started with LS1edit , then went to HPTuners and now only use EFILIVE , much better customer support and upgrades and goodies are free.
The scanner which you are also going to need is included in the software / cable so it has everyting you need.

Well it looks liek unless you get teh shop versionof the EFI live you will only be able to tune 2 cars like LS1 edit. That is IMHO. HPtuners gets my vote from that feature alone. Being able to help buds out at a whim is nice. GL.

99SS-T, you can have up to 25 licenses on the flashscan cable. the first two licenses are included and the rest are $99 each. That is a fine trade off for free software updates. THe last thing I want to do is be stuck in an annual upgrade plan.

flashscan is not limited to a year/bodystyle.
You can tune ANY year and make per licence.

Hptuners has the advatage of being able to tune as many of the same vehicle as you want.

FREE upgrades with flashscan

Upgrades are free with HP Tuners as well. We also have the most generous license scheme available. We do not limit the number of licenses you can have either.

Free upgrades applies to new orders. We have been saying this for a while. The date we set was April 15'th of this year I believe.

Shoot me an e-mail with your customer ID and I can look into your account regarding the 2.0 upgrade.

Better update the website then

"Our products are sold as complete packages ready for you to use with a 6 month free software updates. We are constantly updating our products and definition support. If you wish to have the latest software and VCM/PCM calibration support then the extended software update option is what you're looking for. "

Funny how people will spend over $500 to get the car professioanlly tuned then bitch and moan about it not doing something right. Yet, they still bitch and moan to pay $99 for 1 license to try to tune it themselves.

If you plan on tuning lots of 2002 Camaros then the HPT license setup is better, but if you also wanted to do say a 2004 Hummer, and a 2005 GTO and a 2000 C5 then EFILive is much better.

Whatever suits your situation I suppose.

Your reply is misleading. I think you should have worded it, "Upgrade to 2.0 is free if you buy 1.7 now, but you will have to buy our software maintenance package (every 6 months??) if you wish to keep current with future software upgrades/releases".

Have seen both in action HPT is much faster and better than EDIT. I would have to go with HPT. Best bang for the buck!
