Question New to the LM-1...

does anyone know where to start learning how to use this tool? I read the manual, setup it up per the directions and did a log. Now I have no clue how to read it and make the appropriate changes with HPT.

you want the LM-1 to log RPM and TPS?

You need their RPM Converter (LMA-2) or Aux Box ... for the RPM you need to tap the RPM wire on the PCM... TPS I'd guess is the same...

I have an RPM Converter I bought a while back... but then HPT came out w/the EIO so haven't used it much...

as for the changes w/HPT ... you can use it to correct your VE table, and also to verify your WOT AFR and change as appropriate in the PE table (read the main sticky , it has several links to posts on tuning w/a wideband)

As for the connection to HP Tuners... you have 2 outputs that come w/the LM-1 and a ground output... you connect the ground to HPT's EIO ground wire, then the analog out 1 to HPT's EIO input 1 ... then connect the LM-1 to your laptop, and using their software, set analog output 1 so that it is 0 volts = 10AFR 5 volts = 20AFR

Then in HPT , using the Special cells (the ones at the bottom, the manual , under scanner table display shows you which ones to use) add the wideband PID to the table.... at which point the Wideband only feature of the AFR Histogram will unlock

you can still log it at wot and use the hpt scan to check it out. when i was lookin at it thats what i saw, looks like it did what you said went to about 12.6 then up to 12.8 then richened back up. from what i was told it sounded like this was all something that could be logged easier

Correct, that's one of the huge benefits of being able to connect a wideband or other sensor to the tuner cable... you can log it's data along w/the stock car sensors
