Question A4 Shift Times

Yes I did a search first but couldn't find much. I have time between shifts set to zero. Is there anything wrong with that? Should there be some time between shifts? Thanks

The desired shift times table in EFI Live says this in the description:

"Setting any value to 0.00 will disable adaptive shift learning."

Thanks. I don't know how I didn't see that. I could tell the adaptive learning wasn't working. And FWIW I have started adding small amounts of time and it is shifting better. Thanks again.

It's supposed to adjust the shift pressures by looking at desired shift times and actual shift times.

Can you describe the improvement seen by
increasing Shift Adaptation Time settings?
Some tools warn against zeroing it (with no
real reason given) while others like Predator
just go ahead. Especially interested in shifting
oddities that "go away" with some particular
adaptation time "sweet spot" or minimum, and
any notions about what the undesired effects
might involve.

It's a great program that GM put in. It learns how you drive and the driving conditions you are in. Like are you driving up or down hills or heavy throttle all the time. It will hold gears, like hold in third and not let it shift to forth when accelerating and slowing on a curving road.

And on my shift times - I started with a tenth of a second and then began a slow increase. So far the more time the stronger and firmer the shift.

And to jimmyblue - I always enjoy reading your posts. You really know these LS1's.

as a rule of thumb, in listening to others and speaking with the ls1edit gurru's, .150 is optimal. it works well for me in 1-2 and 3-4, but 2-3 seems alittle sluggish at this setting.
