Default 233/239 or similar cam guys...can i see your timing table?

Anybody who would like to help me out. I can't seem to get the friggin timing dialed in on this thing and that's where most of my problems are coming from.

I have full bolt ons and am running SD closed loop and still get a ot of surging under 2000 rpms and car feels like a big slug at part throttle under 3500 rpms.

Can somebody snap a shot of their timing tables? I've heard of as much as 31 degrees in some cells so im stumped.

Shoot me your e-mail address and I will send you copies of my main timing table, base timing table, MAF Frequency's, and VE table...

I know I'm running the LS6 heads, but you should be able to use my numbers to get started...LS1's usually take a couple or 3 degrees more timing too, due to the lower static compression ratio...

I found that below 4000 rpms sluggishness was due to VE table values being way to low...Until I got the numbers up higher, it always felt like two extra cylinders kicked in at 4000 rpms...With the numbers the way I have them currently...From 1500 rpms up through 6800 rpms, it is smooth constant acceleration, no dead spots...

Let me know if this is of interest to you and I will copy and paste the numbers into an Excel file for you...

Peace...Gman

Got your PM's guys...Will get the Excel files together tonight and e-mail them out to you...Hopefully they will at least get you going in the right direction...

I know I've been making minor tweeks here and there for almost a year now and the car is running pretty decent...

Peace...Gman
And keep me posted of your results...

GMan, Nice work, thanks for sharing. Your tables look super smooth, are they still pretty precise?

Your tune is pretty interesting having a very fat VE table and a very lean PE. The I really like the timing curve with the part throttle bumped up. Ill probably use this as a place to start. How do you think it would work for an f13 (230/232 112)? Im thinking maybe ill just move that ridge down a couple hundred rpm as I assume the f13 peaks lower.

Thanks again!

GuitsBoy...Through all my SOTP testing, the reason for the fat PE, at least below 4000 rpms, was this...If I used numbers similiar to the stock PE table, if I would go WOT, say in 2nd gear from 1500 rpms, the car would feel really sluggish, then all of a sudden when the rpms hit 4000 and the MAF frequencies took over, the car would pull like 2 more cylinders just lit off...So, as I increased the VE table below 4000, the car began to pull much harder down low...Also, I get a lot less tip in KR (still get a little) but not like it was before upping the VE values...

My L-trims run any where from -2 to -6 all the time, except for idling they are -10, but that does not bother me...

Also, if you notice the 400 and 800 rpm columns of the VE table...From 0~100 KPa, the values don't increase like the other columns...The reason I did this was the following...Since the cam change, when the car was first started (hot or cold), unless I let it idle for a good 2 or 3 minutes, the motor wanted to drop rpms down to 300 and then catch itself and come back up, then drop and come back up...It would do this 3 or 4 times then level out...

Well, I was watching the scanner a month or so ago, just after I started the car, I blipped the gas and noticed that the MAP was reading up around 12~14 psi as the motor was dropping the rpms, then it would drop back to 8 psi as the rpms came back up, then the MAP would go to 12~14 psi as the rpms dropped again...So, I started to wonder if when the rpms dropped (and naturally the MAP reading is going to increase) which in turn caused the PCM to read a higher VE value, if the motor was sort of choking itself with too much fuel...So, I went ahead and evened the first two columns out...And sure enough...The motor stopped dropping rpms and idles great...

As far as the F13 cam goes, not too familiar with it, but I can't see it being way too different that the G5X3, heads may make a little difference though...But overall, I don't think any of these numbers would hurt you to run in an LS1...Like I said earlier, LS1's usually take a little more timing than the LS6 does because of the lower static compression ratio...

Peace...Gman

Looks like your tune is becomming a hot commodity.

I can definately tell you that using your timing tables made an immediate improvement in part throttle response. And hopefully Ill tweak them a little more for the lower compression.
