Default Putting LS2 402 in '98 f-body, do I have to open loop it now?

I'm just wondering what I have to do to get this thing to run half way decent with my '98 PCM. I don't have as many cells in my MAF tables (stops at 11,250 hz), and with my 85mm MAF, I can't read past 360 g/sec. Am I stuck using the low resolution secondary VE tables to run this beast now, or is there another option I haven't seen yet? Can I force it to use the Primary VE tables somehow?

Thanks

You can still run in closed loop mafless, known as speed density(SD) mode. It'll still use the o2 sensors as an a/f reference. Are you sure its maxing out your maf?

To use the primary ve on a 98 you'd have to get your operating system changed by hptuners (speed density enhanced).

Edit: nevermind, they only offer speed density enhanced on 99 & up.

Yeah, I maxed it a few times around 6850 rpms with my current stock displacement setup. The car is putting out 402rwhp and 468rwtq unlocked, and the A/F ratio is perfect so the numbers support me being maxed.

I tuned a 430rwhp car the other week that did not come close to maxing out. Just over 10,000 at peak.

I know, port the maf, lol... larger maf's will read a lower frequency at the same air flow due to its increased air flow capacity, which is why maf tables will need to be edited.

That is probably actually his best option. Also you could get a Pro M maf or something that is much larger but has the same frequency range.
