I am actually doing a conversion to a two bar right now. I am wiring in a 2 bar and just reconfiguring all the tables to make it work. So hopefully this will work and work correctly.

Can you keep me posted on how everything goes... I was told that I had to swap out to a 99-02 pcm and guage cluster and repin the harness to make this work??? Are you just putting on a 2 bar and rewiring it to the 98 pcm?? Let me know. Thanks

Ok, it works. Got the 2 bar in and was on the dyno today going through all the cells. I found since you add a 2 bar from a 1 bar stock, you have half the value in the table, which is fine, and you will now find that 50kpa equals the old 100kpa. So now when I start going into boost, I go into the 60 and up kpa values. Works great. Just alot of VE work to do now. It will take a good amount of hours to now rescale all the tables. But worth it. Now I dont feel like I have to hold back on this 98 turbo car. You will also find that because of the 2 bar, you have to double your VE values. So now there are some crazy values in the table.....but like I said, it works. And it works good.

Thats the thing. I did not repin anything. I just bought a 2 bar map, bought the connector for it, wired the new connector in to replace the old MAP on the stock harness. So basicly the ECM is now reading the 2 bar. Thats it. All the rest was done in the program. It takes some work, but it worked so good, its great. Brings new hope to the 98 guys. I know I wont go back to using the MAF for this turbo car.

I was told that I had to get a 99-02 pcm and guage cluster and repin the harness to make this work. Is this true? I don't want to spend all this money if I don't have to.. So all you did was replace the 1 bar map with a 2 bar map and thats it? No rewirering or anything? Is it really that easy?

The reason to upgrade to the 99+ pcm is because it gives you many more options as far as tuning and custom 2/3 bar Os's are concerned. Yes it can be done the way rick said but there are stupid things that will hold you back like the sec ve table and not having the use of your high octane and low octane you will be stck in the low octane table permenantely.

Yes, it was that simple. And HummpinSS is right, its more useful in the tables to go to a later year, but for cost and ease of use, it was this easy for the 98's. And during the dyno work, It was using the Correct parts of the VE table since it is reading half value.
