Default sd tune and maf

I've finished sd tuning and i love the way my car runs.I plan on staying sd without the maf(replacing it with a piece of bellows). My question is --at inspection time(ob2 only) do i have to put maf back on and re-enable it(EFI live flashscan)or is thier anyway to leave it off and reflash something and pass obd2.Now with it disabled and ses light tunred off it still sets a code that i believe would be picked up by inspection scanner.

yeah, but with the MAF disabled, you still have a DTC, just not the SES light. The emissions test will still pick up on the DTC and fail you

You could disable the DTC code completely with HPtuners and other programs, at means they wont catch it either.

Perhaps your car acts different than mine, but have you ever actually tried that? With the DTC completely disabled, the car dosnt run in SD mode, it keeps looking for the maf and chokes out. You need the DTC for the car to realize theres no more MAF plugged in and that it needs to resort to SD mode. Thats why people turn off the SES light, but leave the DTC. The car just wont run otherwise.

Yep. Exactly what happened to me when I disabled it completely. Ran like it was a 71 Vega.

I never tried to disable the code completely but I usually put a MAF FAIL FREQ of 0 which puts me into SD mode instantly.

How do you change sd seperate from maf. and isn't sd only used if the maf fails?

Yes, but if you delete the DTC, the car will not run correctly, if at all.

Bottom Line: If your state does OBD-II testing, make sure you have the MAF plugged in when you go get tested. You can take it off again on the way home.
