Default Truck misses like CRAZY when cold. What could it be??

Well... when I first start my 02 1500HD in the morning, or whenever it's below 20*, it stumbles and misses like MAD. The idle will drop down to about 500rpm and then jump back up to around 1200. It will do this back and forth till it warms up. Once it finally does warm up it seems to have a slight miss. But, once I get on the gas to take off from a stoplight it runs fine. I just changed the plugs and wires and am positive it's not that. Does anyone have an idea as to what it could be???

I bet it's your intake gaskets. There is an updated part for them that will solve the problem. If you have a way to moniter your LTFT's watch them until it stops missing. If the LTFT's are around 25 and drop back down after it warms up I'de change the intake gaskets. If the LTFT's aren't around 20 or higher it's probably not the dgaskets causing this problem.

I'll autotap it tonite. I scanned the SES light and it threw (4) P0174 "Lean fuel trim bank 2", (2) P0171 "Lean fuel trim bank 1", (1) P0300 "Engine misfire detected", and (1) P0300 "Engine misfire detected" in the Pending DTC's. I don't remember what the LTFT's were in the freeze frame. Thanks.

Yep, those are the codes usually associated with the intake gaskets. P0171 and p0174 are thrown when the LTFT's are above 25%.

Auto-tapped it this morning and it was showing 25 and NOT droping. Sounds like that's the problem. You don't happen to know what the updated part # is? If not, I'm sure the parts department could help me out. Thanks a TON.

Just tell them you want the green intake gaskets, they should know about them.
