Tach lead help/shift light troubles
Ok so I tapped into pin 10 on the computer for the tach lead. Shift light worked fine. Now all of a sudden it started to act up. The shift light would only read a 5,000 and 3,000 rpm pills. I called autometer and they said the light had to be modified for a 5V square wave. Got it back in and it doesnt work now at all. When I hook it up, I start up the car and the TCS off light comes on. When I disconnect it, the light doesnt come on.
This is very odd and I was just looking for some help troubleshooting this problem. The factory tach works fine also. I was thinking that it was getting a weak signal but I thought the tach would be acting odd if that was the case, which it isnt. Any ideas would be great.

alright i had a similar problem with my raptor shift light which is way better IMO i have both the autometer with pill kit and the www.raptorperformance.com light check my sig below to see how its hooked up, secondly dont understand your question...the 12v source is the issue or the tach signal? my tach wire is spliced into right off the PCM and i use the TCS power source, cool thing is that the raptor performance light can work off either 12v or 5v for motorcycles check them out is my advice

the light comes on when i start the car, but once i hit the set rpm, the light will not illuminate. i am running power from the fuse pannel which goes to all my gages (maybe i need single power source for the light itself?) and the tach lead is right off the pcm. your sig is not there, can you reply and put it up? thanks

i am assuming you still have the 3000 rpm pill kit with your autometer shift light setup but that one in and leave car in neutral and slowly rev to that rpm see if light comes on, if it does remove and retry with you 5000 rpm, the nice thing is that raptorperformance lets you do increments of 100 rpm

hmm i took the 12v source from behind my asr did you see that i just took a test light and did the ol' key on key off trick and looked for the power wire to the asr switch it has worked since then, also have you turned the key to just the off position where somethings are getting power and allowed the shift light to light up, the raptor goes through a little light show to confirm the changes and if you start the car during that confirmation it can act up i simple change it and allow it to give me the light show and it never has had an issue since
