P0442 EVAP leak...need help fixin' it
Just like is says, small leak detected. I haven't had this code till the other day since I've changed my oil and emptying my catch can. I checked my catch can to see if I didn't tighten something...all good. I access to a Tech 2 and this is how I found out what it is from my SES light comin on. I've been on gearchatter.com and I cannot understand it, I need gearchatterfordummies.com.
Anyone else had this code or can someone else tell me what to look for to fix this problem?
Where is the EVAP canister located on the car so I can take a look at it? I cannot get a new fuel cap cuz of it being christmas day.

A small leak could be caused by the gas cap not being tightened. Also if you gas up with the car running, or start the car with the gas cap off. Failing that, follow all the hoses that go into the canister and look for splits in the hose, especially where the hoses connect to the canister.

Check your gas cap if its not sealing,if ok checked the actual cap for leaks you need a evap leak detector machine ,next checked all your evap hoses more than probably its your gas cap.

WTF, ur not talking about that lil round black thing that is bolted to the intake are u? The thing I'm talking about had the AIR system tubes attacthed to it. If that's not it then I have NO clue what else it could be.
It can't be that, mine is off the car and I've seen ALOT of others who have done the same....that's the AIR system, right?

I know the air pump is where u said it's at...but the part I took off my car did not have a fuel line going to it so we must be thinking of 2 different things. the part I took off HAS to do with the AIR/SMOG system because if I took off the EVAP canister...think I would have a few more issues than just a code being thrown.

All that it does is return gas excess gas fumes to the tank. It doesn't hurt you performance wise. I'm still going to stick with my theory that it's the gas cap. Have you cleared the code to see if it will come back again?

where the red circle is at, is that where ur saying the EVAP canister belongs?
Yes, I cleared the code and it came back today. It's been 2 days since I cleared the code the first time.

It's actually towards the front of the motor where that braided line is. I believe it sits between the frontmost coilpacks. Is your whole fuel system redone? Do you even have a return line anymore? I don't see the canister in the picture.

Ok, I found out where the EVAP canister is at...by the fuel tank. The part(s) ur talking about is part of the EVAP system but it's not the canister I was talking about. What ur talking about is the solenoid and schrader valve...let's the fuel fumes into the intake to burn off.
I got that pic from this, hides the parts missing in the pic https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...97#post2977797
my "AIR junk" is gone also
