Default need bcm for drive by wire?

I am a putting a 6.0 out of a 2004 in a 72 suburban and am being told that i am required to use the vehicle bcm to support the electronic drive by wire or i have to change the entire harness and throttle body to run off of a cable.

Is this true and do i have to use the exact bcm out of the exact donor vehicle?

any help would be great thanks TY
