Default What causes DTC PO751?

About once a week I get an SES light, the code shown on autotap is PO751 1-2 shift solenoid stuck closed. What would be the cause of this? TIA,

P.S, I have a Transgo shift kit installed.

Mark

What year/ what mods? I think this code comes up on some '01+ cars with a higher stall TC. If the rpm on the 1-2 shift increases between shifts very much it causes the problem. Might try searching the drivetrain forum.

High stall converters can cause it because of the higher rpm drop. If you have a stock TC, it could be crap in the solenoid or solenoid has gone bad.

Thanks Guys,

It's a 99 T/A mods are in the sig. Where is the solenoid located? Please don't tell me it's internal to the transmission, I don't really want to drop the pan. Does anyone have the part number for the 1-2 shift solenoid? Thanks again,

Mark

Yup, got to drop the pan to replace it.
I'm not saying it HAS to be replaced, but to get to it you have to drop the pan. If you're under the trans while facing the front of the car/trans it's the solenoid on the left rear,at least according to the Helms manual.
