Default HELP! CAR WONT START (NUKED PCM??????)

Ok... tonight I go outside to put some new tuning in...

I go to program the PCM and it can't establsih connection... keeps failing at validating VIN, I let it try about 5 times and exit the program... try to start hte car and it just cranks but doesn't start

Tried to connect to read the PCM , same thing, it tries to connect but keeps failing at validating VIN

Things that I noticed:

1. The lights on LS1 Edit were red... I dont remember if they're always this color of if they're normally Green (what color are your lights when you program?)
2. I had inadvertently put a 30 amp fuse in place of the 10 amp fuse for the PCM BAT when I Cleared the PCM earlier this week.... I checked every fuse under the hood and in the car and none were blown.

Is my PCM Toast?

Strange thing is is that LS1 Edit NEVER got a connection to the PCM past validating VIN... never checked for security key or anything... so I'm thinking there may be a possibility that the PCM isn't toast...

Please help... ANY suggestions will help... I was supposed to go racing tomorrow and spray for the first time but that's definetly out

Try pulling the negative lead on the car battery and leaving it disconnected for half an hour.

This is overkill, but should ensure that your computer has reset.

I would also replace the fuse with one of the proper amperage and check all your other fuses also.

The lights in the LS1_Edit cable are actually orange. At least, that's the color I order.

Never have used green to build one. Always the same orange LED since the first beta unit.

ChrisB (welcome back!) gave the right suggestion. If it doesn't work, email Ken.

well, I tried discon the battery but it still just cranks and won't start. A friend has offered to lend me his spare 2000 A4 PCM until I get this one fixed

Just put the new PCM in, and car fired right up.

I'm thinking that there may have been a communication problem between the LS1 Edit module and my USB to Serial adapter (laptop doesn't have a serial port)

I'll send my PCM in and get it fixed... and I'm def buying a spare PCM
