After reading everything, it's going to cost people ALOT more money to add unlimited vehicle support than before.

For example -

Old Way - $199 Model/Year

New Way - $299.94 Model/Year

When is the date this will take effect, March 1st 2006?

in fact it just got $100 cheaper. The old way was only $199 for the first 2 extra then it switched to $399 per year/model. The new way is a flat $299.

The existing serial pricing remains unchanged.

Existing customers fall under the existing serial interface pricing method. Their prices will not change until they upgrade to USB MPVI units. We are not forcing them to upgrade though, its simply user choice.

If you do the math, you will find that our USB pricing policy is actually cheaper after only a handful of year/model licenses.

The old way only gets you 2 licenses at $199.. then they are $399 each.

The new way, they are all $299.

But, if you don't need a year/model license, we have single vehicle licenses that are only $99.

Price drops and increased functionality across the board.

OH! I need to get onboard for this! Great work guys, it makes sense to me. This now pushes the enevolpe for licensing schemes offered, both of both worlds!

Ken, you will be getting an email from me shortly.

Okay...riddle me this.

I already paid $150 extra for the Serial EIO interface when I first got the software (back in the 1.6 days). Why am I being charged the same upgrade price as someone that only had the standard interface? Did that $150 mean nothing? I mean, I needed the utility of it at the time, but damn...that just isn't right.

Saw it, and replied myself. Bottom line: I guess the $150 went into the original unit. Sucks, but I guess I'll survive

This is "good news" for us that already have thousands and thousands of dollars already invested in our current serial setups.

Let's do a little math:

Since there are only 3 people in the world that know how many and what type of current HP Tuner Licenses and cables were sold, it's gonna make it hard to do some real math, but bear with me.

Let's say that the average buyer of your product may only ever purchase up to 4 unlimited licenses.

Old way:

- $499 (includes 2 unlimited vehicles of your choice)
- $199 (for the next 2 unlimited vehicles of your choice)

$499 + 199 +199 = $897

Say in a year or so you want to add one more, now it will cost $399 for the next unlimited vehicle of your choice.

$897 + 399 = $1296

New way:

- $499 (Includes 8 GM credits)
- 1st unlimited vehicle of your choice takes away 6 credits leaving you with 2 credits left
- To add 4 more unlimited vehicles of your choice, you will need 22 more GM credits at $49.99 each for a total of $1099.78

$499 + $1099.78 = $1577

How is $1598.78 less than $1296?

I'm going to guess that more than 75-80 percent of your customers don't buy more than 5 unlimited vehicles.

More than likely, I will be buying the new USB interface for LS2/LS7 support if I ever want to tune those cars. As always, I will be a supporter of HP Tuner but maybe not of the new price structure. I just hope other people see what I am trying to say...

I know this is a major newby question but here goes: is there any way to use HPTuners if you don't have a laptop? How long is the cable? Is there any way to use a handheld (Predator) to download/upload custom tunes? Okay, fire away...

its recommended you get a laptop...unless you have a garage with a desktop in it its gonna be VERY difficult to tune.

We now have single vehicle licensing that adds to the list of options. You can see that the $199 for the first 2 year/models was there to compensate for this. It depends what your business situation is, the new pricing caters for a wider range of situations. The breakover point i think is at 7 year/model on the new structure it is cheaper than the old. If you already have more than 4 on the old then its cheaper to start using the USB and start benefitting from the lower price or start using the single vehicle licenses for oddball cars.

Chris...

edit: fixed a mistake

I went back and re-read the new pricing and realized it's going to cost WAY more to tune LS2/LS7 cars.

For example - In order to have unlimited 2005 C5 & GTO LS2 support, I will have to spend:

- $499 Initial purchase with 8 GM credits
- To add the 2 unlimited support for C5 & GTO LS2 cars, I will have to buy 32 more GM credits 32 * $49.99 = $1599.68

$499 + $1599.68 = $2098.68 for just 2 unlimited LS2/LS7 cars!!!

Way way more expensive than the old price structure...

LS2/LS7 support was never part of the old structure.

It is completely new.
