can you do this or will this lean the sytem to far.....

can you put the air filter right after the maf or mass sensor

Not a good idea... the purpose of the air filter is to trap depris and particles so they don't go through the engine...

Now imagine those debris hitting the wires on the MAF ... you woldn't have a MAF for long...

Plus you'd be really restricting the air ... small opening (78mm MAF) to large Air Filter, to small (78mm TB)
