Swithing computer to newer year?

Swithing computer to newer year? is there a way to just swith to a 99 and up pcm from my 98. The reason is for the 3 bar map sensor for boost. What all is involved in the swap. Do I have to be a wiring professional? Or can a normal person do this? Thanks for any ideas.
