That's about the same price that many sponsors sell mail order tunes for, and many of the sponsors will make small changes for life or a very minimal fee (and many also offer cores, they tuen a core, send it to you, then you send your PCM back)
As mentioned it's all behind who is doing the PCM Tuning... i'd go to a sponsor who has a good rep on this board /ls1 community ...

My basic tune is about half the price compared to anywhere else. Starting to wonder if I should add one year of service. Maybe I could also buy a couple of PCMs for an exchange deal. Any suggestions?

I'll vouch for his competence
.
We have conversations about tuning all the time, and he is very experienced with many models and various systems.
If I was in need of a tune or calibration change I'd go to him, and luckily he's local to me.
He's braver than I am as far as getting into the business. There seems to be so much that can go wrong between service provider and customer with mail order.
I can say that he usually bends over backwards to resolve issues with customers, and I know how difficult customers can make the job sometimes.
You'd think the customer would usually know exactly what they want and need, and that the tuner can understand what they are asking for, but it often gets confused somewhere in the process. IMO it's usually a mistake on the part of the customer, but they are the ones that must be happy in the end. Customer service is a must.
