Default Smog/O2 sensor Question.

Ok just bought a car and the guy i bought it from says it gets the SES light with code. High sensor bank 1 low sensor bank one. Now i can care less about about o2 sensors. but im going to need to get it smoged in California. Anyone know if i clear the codes take it for a smog it will pass? I need more information about the reading i guess. I dont think its going to be a problem.

Also what side is sensor bank one? I can replace the sensor if its a big deal.

the car has a LID, Hooker catback( with cutout on Ypipe) and a K&N filter. SS hood. and SLP ram air from under the car.

Get it scanned and see if you have any current/history codes. Bank 1 is drivers side, Bank 2 is passenger side - since we're talking 02's, sensor 1 is precat, sensor 2 is post cat.

^^^ yes... a bad O2 (front) will cause an SES light to be set, and force you into open loop where you'll run much richer than stoich ... it'd definetly fail an OBDII emissions check, and will fail a sniffer test with extremely high hydrocarbons

Plus if the engine light comes back on you will fail. Also, the readiness tests must be complete in order to pass (meaning you can't just delete all codes and immediately smog it without driving around a little). There are posts here that tell you what to delete in order to have the readiness tests show complete. (I don't remember off the top of my head)
