Default Will I need a tune?

Basically a stock '01 LS1, looking at headers for my swap, probabaly a set of pacesetters since Ill need to mod them anyway. Other then that, just some intake tubing (I suppose similar to a lid and smooth bellows) in front of a 4L60E with 3.08 gears. Will the headers throw the engine off? Not really concerned if I dont get all I can out of the headers, just that it doesn't cost me anything. If it was carbed, I'd just jet it up a little...

it will make it run a little richer, but if you plan on ding major upgrades, id wait till then to get a tune. Otherwise, a basic tune wouldn't hurt right now just to adjust your A/F

You do not NEED a tune, but is a good thing to get.

upgrade your primary O2's to corvette rear's (bosche 13111's) and you should be fine. If you run any richer, it will only be for a short time until the long term trims adjust.

I'd start stashing some cash so when you get a cam you can pony up for your own tuning package.

I agree with Andy on this one, learning how to tune and doing it yourself will definitely be in your best interest. There are just too many "professional" tuners out there, so save yourself the money and do it right the first time and get yourself a nice package! =D

Best Regards,
Adrian

Your engine will not be that far off but you can use a tune on the tranny to get it to shift harder and faster as well as if your going with a non factory gear your going to need tuning for that. So if your getting those things done might as well get the afr where it should be. Just my .02
