Question A/F vs emissions??

Am doing some tuning on a GEN 7..
Am finding that the idle A/F at Hi 14/ Lo 15 ratio, is causing some serous eye burning problems.
NE1 have opinion[s] as to the accuracy of this observation?
Some say rich only, will cause it, others say either way will cause it...
As it is now, tuning in the shop, with the exhaust fans going, is a true test of determination!!

Lean misfires will cause the fuel fumes too.
Not enough information given to even guess what is going on though.
If it's running closed loop, the system will compensate for misfires to bring the AFR average back to that zone, but you'll still smell strong fuel out the exhaust.
I'd do the normal check for misfires.

Thumbs up Got it....

1. The plugs are toast. Changed them.
2. The idle A/f has been bumped to 13.8, and the engine runs much better.
3. Not enough timing. Has 20*... Bumped it to 26*.
4. Open loop. Cam is too much for closed/idle..255*@.050, 112* L/C, .557".
5. The wiring diagram on the ACCEL site was for early IAC. This T/B uses a 99+ LS IAC. Found IAC working in reverse. Changed wiring, and now the damn thing will even idle.
6. Engine is tooooo big. 530" HEMI.
Thanks for the ideas....Got it under control, now.
