if its just that i wouldnt until you get some more. unless thats all your going to do. or you can buy a suite and do it yourself. you shouldnt need it tuned unless the car is acting up though.

LT's make 10-12 point difference in VE in midrange, they allow a lot more air coming in, which in effect causes lean condition. unless you want it dangerously lean and knocking (and effectively pulling timing) then go ahead, don't tune.

no, it isn't. why do you put all the 'performance' parts on it? to make it flow more air! what happens when it flows so much air that the PCM cannot compensate for it by itself? it goes into panic mode and pulls timing, which decreases performance. so adding parts without compensating for them in the PCM basically cancel each other out. so what's the point?

my post just says if hes getting more parts to hold off. paying for a tune can get expensive. if hes not going to do more than get a tune. i never said he shouldnt. thats just my opinion. many people on here have done that. its not unheard of. people drive around in small cams with no tuning.

side note
doesnt the maf compensate for the increased air?

Well I'm running a Z06 MAF if that make any difference as well as a TSP lid. But I am planning on installing a TSP Torquer Cam in about a month !! So I guess I should wait for the tune until then....

If you tune, you will maximize/optimize your investment/mod.

the maf does not follow any sort of adaptive function. It's accuracy rests solely on user calibration, from factory form, the MAF airflow curve is formulated for stock airflow requirements. Then you have people going and messing with the formula, increasing airflow efficiencies, the MAF will not magically understand these modifications. The best the PCM will do, is detect lean burn from O2 feedback during closed loop fueling and adjust fuel via trimming.
