Default tuning a GMS maf

Has anyone ever really messed with tuning one? I have a friend that has his laying around and thought Id give it a shot..just for ***** and giggles. I wanted to get two tunes one with the stock maf and one with that just to see the difference. thoughts?

As long as the VE is accurate from tuning in SD mode, you can tune any MAF to conform to it.

right, but the friend im getting it from said the the MAF(gms) does something to trick your computer into thinking its running leaner or something like that..just wanted to confirm is all.

I had a hard time when I was trying to tune mine. Thats not to say it can't be done, but the car definetly wanted to run leaner when it was enabled.

it can be done, you just need a wideband to do it right

Very true, I had all my troubles before I installed my WB. I went SD since then.

GMS Maf I think uses different resistors to force a lower airflow that actually happens, this means less fuel, which leans out the stock rich state.
But if you are tuning as stated here, you can tune SD then reconnect MAF and adjust maf table based on the % error over your known good SD tune.
Bottom line, tuned MAF table.
