Default Help me with my car, it wont start.

I am in need of some help. I was installing an oil pressure gauge in my 99 camaro. Once i was done I went to start the car and it would not start. I noticed that the insterment panel was not lighting up. The gauges dont move, and the milage counter does not come one. I have checked for loose wires, changed the breakers and the main and starter relays. To say the least it still does not work. When i turn on the key i can hear the fuel pump turn on, and the aftermarket guages that are installed light up and have power. Im out of ideas. does anyone here have any ideas?

Where did you connect the wires for your new gauge?

Here's some things to check.
1.) Fuses (in both fuse panels).
2.) Check for a loose PCM ground, or a loose ground on one of the big 3.
3.) Check that the PCM is getting power.

I checked the fuses on the panel next to the door, as well as the ones under the hood, and they are both good. The power wire is hooked to another aftermarket gauge that is working, and the ground i hooked up to a bolt on the a piller up top for the ttop reinforcment. as for the pcm getting power, it has power b/c i hooked up my hptuners to it to take off the Vats to see if that was the problem.

One thing i did not include is when i say it wont start, its not that it wont start, it wont crank it will not click, it does not make any noise. Its like if you dont step on the clutch and turn the key. There is no anything.

Where did you install the sending unit? Sounds to me like a ground is off. Is the car a 6spd? If so is there a sensor that reads when the clutch pedal is compressed? Maybe check that.

The sending unit was put into a little cap that is right above the oil filter. as for the Neutral safty switch on the car, it acts like that, but that would not cause the dashboard to light up. Nothing on the dash works.

If you have another key try it, the chip in the key could be bad

What was the problem? You could possibly help someone else out just by telling us.

double and triple check the "gauges" fuse inside the car (side panel) ... if this fuse is blown the car will not even try to crank, an abuse code will be set, and none of the gauges will work

edit... doh... just saw it's been fixed... what was the problem?

Problem was what you discribed Horist. The fuse was not making proper contact, so i had not power to the guages.

Pulled the old one, and installed a new one gave it a giggle and bing, it worked.

Turned out the front driver parking/blinker light bulb connector was shorted and caused the gauge fuse to blow, which made my dash go out, which wouldn't let me start the car....GM is so smart at wiring vehicles lol
