Default 99 ls1 hypertech programmer question

my friend has a hypertech that says its for the 1999 ls1

i was wondering if this would be compatible with the 1998 ls1?

anybody know

Nope, each HPPIII is yr specific, and it can also only be used on one vehicle at a time. If the vehicle was sold with the HPPIII tune in it, the tuner would be useless.

HPPIII is a waste of money, for a little more you can buy HP Tuners or LS1 Edit. Or you could just go to a shop that has the software and let them tune your car. There are alot more parameters to be tweaked that the handheld just can't do.
