Default Can a Tune be refflashed and changed

I have a tune installed in my car from a friend that sucks. I want to know if I can install a vinci performance tune from a handheld to overwrite this tune and not add to what I currently have from hp tuners. I donot have access to my stock tune it is 300 miles away in a laptop.

I'm not sure how the hand helds work, do they suck out the info in the PCM then you change it and zap it back in. I dont think they have a list of stock bins you can reflash back in.

However you could download a stock bin, I'm sure someone would have one for your car/truck, what do you have?

You should be able to go to a dealership and they'll flash in a stock tune for you. Just ask them before hand if there's any updated programming for your computer, or if they will flash a stock tune in there for free (helps if you have a hook-up obviously).

It depends on the handheld, of how it works.

With most they suck the stock tune out, make changes and then write a new one.

Some (like the SCT XCal2) take a "stock" tune from the database your tuner uses, they create a new tune for you, and program that to a handheld tuner. No worries about having your "stock" tune lost in a laptop somewhere..

Yes, its only about 512K. May be a good idea to compress it using Winzip as it provides an extra bit of validation using a checksum. As if your BIN file gets damaged during email you may not notice the bad file in your car for some time.
