Default If you tap an LS1 with a hammer

Say you tap the block itself with a metal hammer, will the ECU record it as knock? I also am not talking about tapping right next to the sensors (not really possible on the LS1 anyway), but rather on another side of the block.

if the tapping reproduces the harmonic signature of knock, yes.

Yes, it will. Depending on how sensative your knock sensors are, will depend on how "hard" you will have to tap the block. I have done it to verify that the sensors worked.

Thanks. I'm putting together an IIR filter for simple knock detection (at least as good as the sensors GM puts there) and wanted a simple way to read the resonance.
