Default EFILive RoadRunner Real Time vs. HPT Real Time Tuning

Here is a comparison between EFILive's RoadRunner for Real-Time Tuning compared to HPT's RTT. Here you will be able to directly see the differences between the two and how far advanced the RoadRunner is compared to HPT's RTT.

Craig has personally told me on the phone hes got something for the 98's. I brought it up because I just got a 98 vette and was interested in real time tuning it also.

I could be wrong... I want to say when I was talking to him about it he said he had one on the bench.

I'll write him a email and ask right now just to double check. His email is Craig@moates.net

A Few things wrong with that writup from what I can see
1.HPT has cell tracking as well
2.Its never taken over 30 seconds for me to perform a cal. only write...usually 23-27 seconds not 40
3.How long does setup time on a corvette take? Obviously this is setup times on an fbody.

It would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath. According the EFIlive forum the 98's are last on the priority list. Here's what I pulled from their website. I would be happy to see the LS2 support for my TB SS. Still no update on that.

No 98 support yet. However, I'll do what I can to try and support it. But it won't happen right away. Here's the priority list:

- 99-02 LS1/Trucks (done, supported)
- LB7 Diesel (under way, earliest testing looks promising)
- 03-05 LS1/Trucks (bench testing under way, no results yet)
- 98 LS1 (have dissected PCM for fitment, will require circuit layout change at least).

HPT has cell tracking in the RTT windows. EFIlive has it working for most things.

It takes about 20 minutes if your slow to install a PCM on a vette.

straight from the horses mouth.

Alvin,

Yes, the Roadrunner should work for the 98s. I need cores though.

Best regards,
Craig Moates

1 item... 10 minute install for both?

HPT: Read PCM, 2 mins.... apply upgrade (instant plus say 10 seconds of user mouse movement) ... reflash .... 30 seconds

a newbie removing the PCM and reinstalling... on an F-body ... 10 minutes is a joke.... and let's not forget the corvettes... the vette PCM is a bit more cumbersom to remove

also regarding the price:

roadrunner: 599
EFI Tuning License: 199
EFI Scan License: 249
Total : 1047

is that the total cost? (someone that doesn't own EFI Live Flashscan already)
(should "buy the tuner software and RTT from HPT is included be included?) cause you can buy the basic $500 HP Tuners software..... and it includes the ability to RTT your F-Body (EVEN 98!) and you have 6 licenses left over!)

So when will the final document be posted? (cause the version I saw now vs the version I saw a couple hours ago are much different)

Also.... this document assumes the HPT Pro only.... HPT regular (for only $500) includes the ablity to do RTT

Something that should be added: (assuming the Roadrunner purchase doesn't include a full EFI Flashscan purchase)

Purchase HP Tuners (any version) and receive the option to us RTT for your F-Body for only 1 credit (with 8 credits included)

How about install time varies for both due to user/vehicle.

The price is correct. Also, I have seen you post many times where you don't recommend the std as you feel the ability to use a wideband is very important. How would anyone buy the std and use it effectively without a wideband.

Purchase HP Tuners (any version) and receive the option to us RTT for your F-Body for only 1 credit (with 8 credits included)
This is already stated in the comparison that you guys wrote. I also wasn't aware that HPT had support for 98's as I believe it was Chris that said there was no room in the PCM for the extra features.

Can't answer that as I didn't write it.

Look guys, no need to sling mud however I think that there are some major misunderstandings with how the road runner works. I've used both and while RTT is kinda neat, the road runner is much nicer tool and is the only one to me that is real time tuning.

I'll back this up as I just talked to Craig and he said the same. He is looking for cores at the moment.

I also remember reading this. 98's didnt have enough on board memory to support RTT

The RoadRunner will now work on 98 PCM's. The unit was redesigned to be physically smaller so as to fit in the 98 cases. The only holdup right now is getting core 98 PCM's.

Since I worked very closely from the beginning with Craig I guess I am one of the 'horses'.

most of the things I see being compared are reflash times and neat features..."supports gas and diesels" don't care about...."wireless option" don't care about..."fully functional spare PCM included" don't care about. All of this for an extra $400?? No thanks.

I thought I was gonna see something where 3 bar was supported for the '98 vehicles......bleh.....

I'll be in contact once they are released, or if I can get a core to send to you guys.
