Default Tune after TC install??

I just got dont putting in my 3500stall TC in my 4L60e and was wondering if i needed to tune my computer for the new stall... seems like it takes a long time to reach lockup??? when im on the freeway, the idle is pretty high but about 5-10min it locks up?? is this right, the tranny just got rebuilt at the dealership with the shift kit in it.... just wondering if it needs to be tune and how would i go about this?

Yep, you need a tune if you want to make it work right. Take it to a shop, or buy a tuner & do it yourself. Either way it's going to cost you $300-500. If you plan on more mods, buying your own is the cheaper (& more fun / painful) way.

Is it taking 5-10 minutes of driving to lock up only when it's cold? If so, this is correct behavior and you probably just never noticed it before with the stock TC. A tune can do wonders for the driveability of the car after installing the TC though.

Mine doesn't lock until my temp gauge is just past the first mark, at or above 42 MPH steady part throttle, 140 degrees on a scanner. A tune is a good thing. I'd also double/triple check your fluid level to make sure it's correct after putting some miles on it - a shop installed mine and it shifted funny until I got it right.

You can modify the lock/release behavior by going to Transmission > Auto TCC > TCC Apply/Release Speed vs. TPS vs. Gear - Normal. For reference, here is my current table with a Vig 2800 and F13 cam. These settings keep the TCC from locking unless the trans is in OD and the rest of the conditions are met as well:

Code:
255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000	255.00000

well, I just adjusted them by feel. I didn't want the TC to lock up in any gear but OD, so I set the MPH limit for those rows to 255. And the OD table, I just increased them a little at a time until the TC started locking up and behaving like I wanted it.

This doesn't mean you will like it, but you can try it out.

First off, I recommend that you do NOT change numbers that you don't understand. With that being said, the help file describes what these settings are used for:

TCC Apply/Release Speed
These tables determine the speed at which the TCC is applied or released in relation to TPS and Gear.
