Default lt1 edit or megasquirt?

it seems there arent alot of tuning choices for the lt1 but i figured i ask you guys what you like. im looking to tune my 97z m6 for a single turbo 8-10psi meth inj, 42lb inj, 1.6rr's,innovate wideband. just wondering what would bed best. i know the megasquirt is a diy and the lt1 edit is probably a tuning/dyno shop deal. just wondering the goods and the bads of either

Im running a 383,with a gt42-76 and a th400. Ive got lt1 edit. its my first time tuning a car. the program is not that bad, but it is the only tuner I have ever used.

I know that the megasquirt has alot more thing it can control than lt1edit can.

depends on how far you want to get involved w/an aftermarket ECM... Megasquirt is a pretty neat ECM though.... but I believe the learning curve would be higher than LT1 Edit (unless you buy a preassembled one)

Ditch the OBD II pcm and buy a OBD I 94-95. Buy LT1 edit. Best route!

why would ob1 work better? isnt the only real differnce the crank sensor? how wouldthat affect the tuning of the car? especially if the ls1 are so easy to tune. i have a full 94 harness engine and car if i needed to swap but i just put my whole 97 drivetrain in my 94 so id rather not go back to the obd1 seup. how user friendly is the megasquirt?

Crank Sensor? No! The wiring harness are basically the same. OBD I is much easier as far as tuning. Less problems with codes,ETC. The only thing you have to do is replace the PCM and Knock sensor<(lower right side center of engine) with a 94-95. I have been there done it too many times

well i had a problem when i put the 97 engine harness in the car bc the two main plugs on pass strut tower there was only one plug on the 94 engine room harness, so then i proceeded to change all the wiring to match. maybe a certain year has both plugs and obd1. but your saying to just change the pcm to obd1. but then what do you recommend for tuning lt1edit or megasquirt or other?
