Default Z06 MAF Sensor Safe to Use w/o Tune?

I am getting a MAF sensor that's straight out of a ZO6, the Delphi 85mm one. Is the car safe to drive using this MAF sensor until I can get a tune. It will be about 300 miles of easy break-in driving until I get the tune. Thanks!

I wouldn't do it. The dynamics of of the 75mm vs 85mm are very different. Given the significant about of mods your making, I would be surpised if you S/LTFT's could handle it.

Get a tune to protect your investment. Better yet, get your own tuning software so you're not at the mercy of a tuner. Check the bottom link in my sig for a package deal on EFILive and a Wideband

I guess I'll install the stock lid and MAF until a tune can be done.

I expect you will see Fuel System Rich codes in a
day or two and drivability will suck. Maybe not to
the point of actual danger, but I'd leave it off the
motor until you can do it right. Gross overfueling
can cause you some trouble beyond simple poor
mileage and performance if it goes on long enough.

I'll second that for sure! I have more guys that come to our shop with either modified or aftermarket MAF's that created more problems then its worth. A lot of power can be made through a stock MAF before it really becomes a problem. Take the advice and get a WB and tune with the stock MAF.
