Default my procharged car is making 250+ temps

wondering what i need to do.... is it the hard ware or software...

the car when just easy driving hits up over 230 pretty quick... then it goes to 255 really quick...

what could be causing this... the A/F is about 12.5 when just driving around...

timing is around 23* when just driving around also..

did this just started happening or has it been this way for a while? What thermo in the car? Does this happen even at highway speeds or just around town? Also is this an f or y body?

What method are you using to check the temperature? My 402 was having overheating issues, but never realy got that high. The tuning helped the most, but I also changed the radiator to a Be Cool unit. I have two Spal fans on it, one as a puller and one as a pusher.

you sure your fans come on? does the temp drop if you force both fans on? what kind of fans? are they wired to blow or suck?

its a totally new setup... motor and everything...

i have the one ATI fan and shroud... and yes that ****** is HOT i can hear it boiling....

it is the stock rad with the one POS ATI fan and shroud... and yes i can hear it blowing.... the car tends to cool off some while idling... but when moving at any speed it gets hot

i have the windshield washer tank gone along with all the AC stuff...

im thinking about putting 2 pushers and a large new Rad. up front since i dont have AC or anything else in the way...

so i guess its the same common problem the other ATI guys had on their F body isnt it

Question My $.02...

12.5:1 at cruise, seems really fat....
Timing at 23* at cruise, seems low...

If the temp is "reasonable" at idle, but high at cruise, could be a compression leak into the cooling system.
Compression test? Maybe a leakdown, too?

should be like 14.7 cruise (stoich), 38* ish timing. until under load.
dont wanna sound like a dick here but make sure the fan is blowin the right direction. if its wrong, at cruise it will fight any air comin through the rad, and at a stop it will push through air, cooling it somewhat til u move again, like u had described. it could happen.

i was just trying anything to keep the temps low with more fuel and low timing...

so i make sure everything is right... is the ATI fan supposed to pull or push air?

the fan should blow towards the rear of the car (puller).

More timing at cruise will make it run cooler.

I think you mean... pull towards the rear, placed in the firewall side of the radiator...correct?

The ATI is a puller fan (mounted on the engine side), and it should still move air towards the rear of the car. If you put your hand behind the fan it will be blowing towards the rear of the car and sucking through the radiator
