Default Anyone using SCT Flash Xcal 2?

Anyone using the SCT Flash xcal II for GM? It has datalogging I belive and all those goodies? I had xcal II for my mustang when I had it and it was damn good product could change tunes within seconds. Possibly a dumb question but do you think this flash device could play with the torque managment and stuff or is that just a efi live/hp tuners thing?

I checked on this last weekend. At one place on their web site, they claim to support GM. However, if you go to the order page, it is not yet available.

I am using one to tune my car.

There is no canned tunes for the GM hardware, and all XCal2 GM devices are custom tuned.

The SCT Advantage software very similar funcionality of the other software out there, using the stock operating system. So adjusting the torque management functions can be done in a custom tune no problem.

So the Xcal to would be just as useful as EFI Live and HPTuners or whatever on a dyno tune right? I think I want to do the Xcal 2 b/c of the 3 tune option.

hptuners & efilive have the unlimited tune option lol

im sure the sct 3 tune option is nice for some but for about the same price you could have a full tuning suite.

Well Yes and no. Efilive is only $549 and you can tune anything you need to change and is an awsome scan tool also. You can make changes any time you want. On the SCT tuners i sell, I can put on 3 tunes of your choice, but you cant make changes to them at this time. You would have to send me your unit back and i can make the changes.

There is no limit to the number of tunes that can be flashed to an Xcal2 It will only store 3 at a time (plus stock) so the tune created on the dyno can changed as often as you need to.

Currently, it is more of a tool targeted for dynotuners/mail order shops to be able to leave the customer with different tune options. (octane, n20, bad gas, ect) not just flash a single tune in their vehicle and send them on their way, as with the other software out there.

wait4me - efilive scan only = $538
- efilive scan and tune = $699
-per your site
Seeing as nobody is going to pay that ridiculous amount of money for a scan only, I think the only relevant price is the 'scan and tune', which means you quoted the wrong price in your post above...however, if I am wrong, please, please correct me...

It is incorrect. Pricing is as follows for EFILive.

Scan only - $249
Scan and Tune - $549 (V1 interface)
Scan and Tune - $749 (V2 interface)

Please note you need a laptop to use the V1 interface, so include that in the real cost of that tuning solution.

Changing tunes with just a handheld is nice I have been enjoying that feature for many many months.

What is the real difference between the V1 and V2 version of EFI Live? For someone that just wants to tweak certain things. I'm not the type that sits there with my laptop going down the track and studys every little thing. Is it a easy program to use?

The v2 is the newest cable, It will do everything that the V1 will do, but more.

V1 does 97-2006 obd2 vehicles, where as the V2 does Can, odb2 and will cover the Obd1 scanning also.

The v2 specs can be seen over on EFILives website at www.efilive.com then click on the v2

Trying to get this thread back on track:
What are advantages/disadvantages of XCal2?
How would one go about getting one with the tunes installed, since their web site does not advertise selling one for fbodys?
Will it ever be able to do infinite tunes, like HPTuner or EFILive?

The XCal2 only works on 98+ vehicles.

Any SCT custom tuning dealer can program tunes on the device for you, and send you the device.

The device currently can only be programmed by dealers, but in the future both e-mail programs will be available, so your tuner can e-mail you a new tune, Also, a pro racer package (full tuning software) will be available for the GM vehicles, so you can tune all of the tables yourself.

There are no limit to the number of files that can be written to the device (only 3 at a time currently) you simply overwrite an older file to write a new one.

Other advantages, when you sell your car, you can return it to stock, and program your next compatible vehicle with the device. no need to purchase additional credits, or a new license as other products out there. Just get tunes for the new vehicle from your dealer/tuner.

If the pro racer pkg will be available in the near future then what software are the dealers using to tune? is that not avail to me the DIY'er now?
A SCT tuner i used for my other vehicle(Ford) does not do GM and told me it's not cost effective to purchase the GM for just one vehicle(mine)
so i would have to find a different GM SCT tuner.
