Default is there a way to put a valet(parking attendant) chip in the ls1?

ok......i have a 01 ws6 m6 ta. i just lost my machanic for good and i now need to find a new shop to start doing my clutch & trans jobs. i don't want to drop off a 10sec car and have some as*hole take it out and see what it will do.(we all know they will do it) can i get a valet chip or rig something so the car will not go over 10mph or something? i don't need someone wrecking my car or tearing it up.

one of the features of EFILive's custom OS's is a valet mode - and can easily be used as you described.

You could set up a key tumbler switch for access to a full performance mode/calibration. Without access to the key, you could have the piece of mind when you drop off your monster. However, if you can't trust the shop with something like that then I would look for another shop.

efi live is like $700.00 is there anything cheeper?
DOC- trust the shop??? i trust no shop. to drop off a mid 10 sec car on motor and not think they will be tempted to see what it will do is far to trusting. i take no chances with my investment. becides a bud of mine went to a show once that had valet parking and the valet took his mustang for a spin and hit a telephone pole with it. not happening to me.

Wow, that sucks! I wish property values were more reasonable down south,(are you in Miami or Michigan?) I would open an honest shop down there. Sounds like you guys need a trustworthy shop down there. I am sorry to hear your woes and I believe you. A true performance shop won't have you worrying with thoughts like that. I would personally kick an employee's *** if he did some **** like that in my shop. Just thought I would throw that out before I make the Yankee Jackass comment. We have lots of high profile customers down south that we take care of...what you speak of is really shitty.

if you could pick up a cheap used version of some tuning software an 01 TA flash should only take about 22-25 seconds to perform...so really its just a matter of setting the speed limiters to like 10mph and be done with it. Otherwise hptuners starts at $499 & efilive starts at $549 for their V1 package.

Bill,
More realistically, set the rev limiter to 2500.

Not to get to technical here, but $700 is cheap insurance to keep a dumb *** from behind the wheel of your mid-10 on-motor ride. Not to mention $700 would get your hands on EFILive with change to boot.

Or you could find someone in your area to set the tune up for you. I see no reason you couldn't hit the regional forum and find someone willing to set you up for $250 or less.

dude whats the point ? you want trans and clutch work done, the shop should take your car out for a spin to make sure everything is working right and was done properly. setting the car not to go over 10mph is just halting the shops work.

With the EFILive custom operating system No#5 you could set the Nos table (without running Nos) to pull timing, alter fueling, set the rev limiter buy simply flicking the valet switch, you could have a 10 sec car with the switch off and a 15 sec car with the switch on.

Cheers Scotty.

Im with this guy i definitely think you should do this. like what foff667 said go and get HPtuners and set the limiters to like 10 mph and a 2500 rpm rev limiter. Also when you get the HPtuners you can start to learn how to tune yourself a lil bit. But i dont care if they need to drive it to go and check to see if its working right or not, they can call me and ill come up there and drive it and let them know if its working right. But i dont trust really nobody unless there good friends.

when i drop mine off and do the tuning stuff, i do allow the speed limiter to be something reasonable for the surrounding roads if they need to road test it. so if the speed limit is 45, then the limiter will be around 45. as long as u have the mileage written down prior, its not like they are goin to joyride around.

Why not install a resistor that can be activated (via a switch) to replace the existing IAT sensor input. I.E. when the switch is on, the output of the resistor will tell the car that it's like 220F and therefore pull shitloads of timing.

fwiw the stock tune on most cars will only pull 3* of timing LS2's pull 12 or so * but in all honesty that isnt going to make a 10 second car into a 15 second car lol

what about a timing tuner like used on nitrous systems? that might be able to pull like 10*, although i don't know how much power that will lose

your not gonna loose 300 hp by pulling 10* of timing...if he's got a 10.5 car that means he's putting 450-550 to the wheels more then likely depending on his combo....to get his car to the 15-17 second range means he would need to cut his hp to around 150-250 lol...aint happning.

THANKS...i'm looking into some softwear now.
FOFF667-tha car made 463hp 414tq on a mustang dyno.
DOC-i'm in michigan.
JUSTANILLUZION-whats the point? think about your question! do you really think that people who test drive your car un-supervised always drive it like it's a slow rice car? i once had a trans shop after a clutch install tell me wow, that car really hauls ***. i don't go to them anymore. all i need is someone to see what it can do,loose controll and wreck my car...LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BUDS MUSTANG.all my work, time and money gone.
there is your point, and i think others should protect there cars this way too.
thanks guys,i'm done here.
