i got a 93 obd-1 formula i was wondering how extreme can you go with mods (like le2 heads, cam, nitrous) before a mail order tune isnt safe or reliable for good power anymore? Im scared of a bad tune running the air/fuel or timming way off. Right now im running a hot cam kit and full bolt-ons and the drive ablity/ power is pretty good. If anybody has any advice or ideas of a better way to tune my car it would help me a ton for the knowledge.

a friend of mine once said put a blind fold on and play darts, that's essentially a mail order tune, sometimes you get lucky and they're great, others are no good. best bet would be to find a tuner in your area and either "street tune" or get your car on a dyno and tune it there. both using wideband to measure AFR's to make sure the tune is acceptable.
if you want it spot on, a dyno tune is generally best because of the controlled enviroment

how does that work tuning obd-1 computers? is it just like obd2 by hooking up right to the DLC or is it something special chip with a cable that goes right into the pcm?
