Default 98 PCM 00 Motor?

ok so i have an 00 ls1 swap which was found in a 98 parts car. serial/part numbers on motor says its an 00 and the ecu checks out as a 98. in my limited knowledge and expierence with these motors this setup cant work. so how did it? really i have no idea if it did or not. but my question is do i need to find an 00 ecu or can i send off my 98? i have the option of picking up HP Tuners from a freind, can i use that to correct the year discrepency?

you can flash that ecu as same vin number at your motor. or if you have another car vin number you can also put it on your pcm and you pcm will work ok

The 98 PCM doesn't care that you have a 00 motor. All the sensors are still routed via the 98 harness. The 98 Operating system is belongs in the special olympics of LSx based pcms. If you are just starting out with this project I would highly recommend spending the extra time and effort to upgrade/repin the harness to support a 99+up PCM.

Depends, do you have the motor out? What are you skills with wiring? Reading schematics?
