Default Is a no dyno tune a deal breaker?

Hi

98 LS1 A4

Thinking of buy a heads/cam/header plus install & tune package from a shop. They do not have a dyno, so I assume they will tune with a scanner and wideband.

Is this wise? Just don't want to get a bad tune and blown engine. Any input appreciated.

Thanks JA

My car has never been tuned on a dyno...I tune it 100% on the street. If they know what they are doing, you'll be good to go.

Yea usally there is some street tuning involved usally with any tune. But they will get the tune in nice and safe with a wideband and logging.

I tune mine myself with LT1-EDIT and I did put it on a dyno(curious ) that I know the tuner REALLY well and tuned it in with a wideband and my software. Im gonna get my own wideband for chrismas

The street is the best place to tune IMo since it is the realest enviornment you can get.

If you can hold a car in a "problem area" on a dyno, your more apt to fix that area than you would be able to on a street tune. I.E. bucking at low RPMs in the 1400-1900 RPM range.
Food for thought

Hi

Thanks. Actually now say I can have either, so they have access to a dyno somewhere. I did not know this before.

Thnks JA
