Default So um... 91 TPI chip in 93 LT1?

The chip and the whole unit it sits in on an LT1 Speed Density are quite identical to a Speed Density TPI. Out of curiosity, are they at ALL compatible? I really already know the answer to this, but I ask because my TPi already has the chip desolder, so taking it out and putting in my new LT1 tune would be easier and cheaper than getting the adapter piece for $30. That and my TPI chip is tuned nice and we have the same tranny (700R4).

Yes, it's the stupidest question I could've asked, but I just really am curious and don't want to TRY it and have something fry >_>

I don't think it will work. Pretty sure that everything is different from an L98 to LT1.

I only have a feeling it will since it's speed density and shares alot of the same sensors from what I've seen. My throttle body is the same except the TPS, which is round plug instead of flat. I'm converting it so I can use my 58mm TBody from my TPI motor.

Even though I've never tried it, even though both eproms are 256K, I'm confident in saying that it will not work because there are differences, such as low/high resolution signals for optispark in the LT1 and the bit addressing for the programming code and data tables differ.

There's 2 chips in the big plastic thing. Does the little one matter between TPI and LT1?

Sorry, I can't remember, I used to do a lot of custom chip tuning around ten years ago, memory is getting a little hazy. That is the limp home mode default electronics in case the chip goes bad. I Don't think it matters just to run but if it goes to it, the results could be unpredictable. Hopefully someone else will deny or confirm my shaky answer. Personally I would spend the $30 and not take any chances.

Read here Carefully. will not work period. Different code and the Memcals are different. Your TPI prom will not work in your LT1 ecm and vice versa.
