Question what the hell is kent moore serial data tester

I'm reviewing an online installation manual for my p1sc procharger before it arrives. The kit is used, about 3 yrs old and comes with a Superchips tuner. The instructions say to use a Kent Moore J-42236-A serial data tester (GM J-tool) and connect to the BCM before reprogramming the PCM. I have never heard of this tool or procedure at all. Anybody know if this applies to a 99 C5?

I will probably end up with a dyno tune over at Breathless, but want to get an initial tune from the programmer in the kit.

Default

it is a shorting bar that keeps all of the modules quiet on the communications bus, it connects under the passenger side of the dash somewhere, and should have come with your superchips tuner.

I believe a paperclip can be used for the same function, but I have never messed with it. Most of the newer flashing software/hardware can flash without this tool.
