Default newbie questions

I spoke to a sponsor today about getting a baseline dynorun to see what kind of power I was making at the wheels. The shop told me I could do a dynotune and pickup about 30hp to my car. The car is stock with the exception of a cutout and the dynotune will cost 350.00 using HP. Sounds good to me, but is there any reason not to do a tune on this car. The car is a 2001 T/A... By the way this sponsor really gets good reviews and they seemed like a good outfit when I was at their shop. Their tunes are said to be topnotch coming from members here on this forum. Thanks...

I wouldn't pay for a full tune with just a cutout... you'll pick something up, but **** will have to be pretty far off to pick up 30RWHP... I'd wait until I had more mods. It'll make more of a difference and it'll be neccessary then. This is just my personal opinion.

A tune can help on a stock car.no doubt. Did you ask about future tune $$ ?

We do the ignitial fee of $450 then everytime you bring it back for retunes it's $150. It can be from a intake to a new stroker motor.

I would def not tune it with only that mod, waste of $$, put it toward some headers.

You're definately not going to pick up 30 hp, that's for sure. You *might* pick up a few hp, but more importantly your air/fuel ratio will be spot on.

I would wait till you have more mods. After you get headers, intake, duals, tb, etc, then get a tune, it will be more worth it then.

If you are planning for a cam, you definately need a tune then. That might be something to consider if it's in your plans.
