Clearing PCM codes...
Just wondering what is the quickest way to clear PCM SES w/o a scan/delete tool? I know you can unhook the battery, but it takes forever. Didn't know if there was something I was missing that would work quicker. Also, if the SES light is on, will the car not perform as well as it would if the codes were cleared? Here's the problem. If I start the car and drive it a short distance and shut it off (like go to get gas), When I restart the car sometimes it will give me an SES. Depending on temp. outside, it will usually clear itself within 30-40 minutes. Just wondering if this light hurts anything at the strip. Thanks.

Well, if there is a problem, clearing the codes will not remedy the problem itself...so yeah..performance is most likely hurting.....hope the SES doesn't flash on and off...if it does..you should really get it repaired/checked/fixed.

I'd want to know what the code was/have auto zone or someone read it. You can clear the light along with the history and resetting the readiness tests by:
Turn key on, don't start car
Pull PCM BATT and PCM IGN fuses in engine compartment
Wait 5-10 min
Turn ignition off
Replace fuses
Some codes set immediately, some only after a couple cycles.
