Default drive shaft speed sensor with EFIlive

im looking for a way to monitor DS speed with a aftermarket sensor... im not sure how to do this but i think you would be able to...

i want to be able to look at engine rpm Vs. DS rpm for converter efficiency.

...and monitor in EFI live ?
maybe converting a wheel speed sensor is the way to go?
The sensor is ready to go.I imagine you could use a reluctor wheel on the yoke (Moser makes them in billet steel ) you would then need to convert say left front wheel speed in MPH to RPM. and then in the 1:1 gear you should be able to calculate convertor slip....
I will have to think about this some more.I think I have a Moser reluctor wheel at the shop I will measure it in the morning

im also wanting to see a graph of the engine and DS through the whole run not just a converter slip at the far end... im also concerned with the way the converter opperates during the 60ft...

We used a Datamite setup. You epoxy a small magnet on the DS, and fab a brkt to hold the pickup. I'll have to look to see what the signal voltage is....

On the manual gear box's we had a sensor on the trans input shaft that is where you will need to pick up for slip.If you pick it up there you will see the correct engine to trans input ratio for every gear.I dont know if I have ever seen one in a automatic. The Comp/Elim racepack graphs for automatics that I have seen they where just D/S rpm not trans input. I imagine a hole drilled into the input shaft to accept a magnet and a place for the sensor will get you there, packaging will be a issue. Also how to get a PID in EFI live to register it as RPM. Unless you are in the plans of some other sort of data recoder???

Why can't you use the GM.TOS (transmission output shaft) value? This is the method I commonly use to indicate TCC slip.
