Default HPT columns..

How does the pcm handle values that fall in between the columns in the editing tables of tuners?
For example:
the rpm columns increase in 400 rpm increments, 400, 800, 1200, etc.
So when you're at 900 or 1000 rpms does the pcm average the values of the existing columns or just go with the closer value?

I assume the same goes for the ECT columns in certain tables. Thanks.
