for scanning it has to be on (running or not depending on what you're scanning)

For reading the PCM or flashing, you do that with the car off but the key in the run position

If you get the roadrunner solution with EFI Live then you can do Real Time Tuning w/the car running

There are also some misc parameters you can temporarily adjust w/the car running (bi-directional controls)

I believe Black02SS and Greenlight motorsports sells them. Also I think wait4me sells them.

You purchase a license and a new custom PCM (I'm not sure of pricing). Then you link your EFI Live up with the Real Time PCM and license it.

If the search is operational, it's called the Moates RoadRunner

flashing a tune to the car : in the run position

scanning : car running

what all do you plan on doing with your car? you won't need the roadrunner if you just want to get basic tune and such. if you plan on head cams, forged motor , 408 etc... then yeh... that makes it a lot easier

You need the roadrunner if you want to tune with the car running.

I have my 98 roadrunner llisted for sale, it works perfect, just going a different route with the car, and don't need it anymore.

correct, you will need a roadrunner, and a copy of EFI live for datalogging with. (or tunercat, but I would buy the Flashscan instead)
