Tuning help
i have a few questions about tuning. For starters is it worth spending the money on having ur car tuned by a shop with a dyno if u dont have many mods. And if i do have my car tuned by a shop would i have to have the car retuned every time i get a new mod such as an intake manifold or headers.
i have a 98 z28 a4
my list of mods includes slplm catback, slp flopac, slp maf, tci streetfighter trans kit/2200 stall, spohn adjtq arm, 3.42gears.
in the near future i plan to add an ls6 intake, tb, lt headers or midlength?, and ory
i would really apperciate the help.

wow it says you have over 4 billion posts that a lot . On a serious note if you plan on doing the intake and headers soon like 3 monthes or less i wouldent worry about it till you get those then have the best performace for all your mods. You would not need to tune for each new mod unless its a cam or something unless you want to have optimum power for the mods.

Does anyone think i would b better off with just a hand held programmer such as the vinci tuner. my goal is to get the car to the 12s. Am i on the right track. what do i need to do to my set up to break the 12 second mark. i run a 13.5 at 99.9mph before the streetfighter trans, 2200stall, and tq arm

yes, the vinci tuner will do you well. i picked up .2 and 1.4 mph back when my car was stock. i used the hiperf/stock cam tune.

If you have a good tuner available nearby, then I would go with that rather than a handheld. Most tuners charge for the intial tune and the a much lower amount for re-tunes.
