Default SES light, bad exhaust emissions, can O2 sims fix?

I have an SES light and I got it scanned. Bad exhaust emissions, bank 2? My car does stink a little at WOT and has a little bit of smoke come out, not burnt fuel. So it is pretty obvious my cats are bad, or going bad, I guess. So instead of getting new cats and exhaust, I was wondering if I can just use )2 sims to get rid of the SES light? If I got rid of my cats, I am sure it would be the same code? So the sims clear it so you won't have the light and pass inspection? I am not looking to dump a whole lot of money in, and I can get a cheap used pair of sims on here rather then getting new exhaust. Just want to make sure this will solve my problem, thanks in advance.

What was the code? If it's just P0430 and the cat is bad GM will replace it free under their recently extended 10yr/120K warranty. Could also be something else - the actual code will tell you what it is.

It just said faulty emissions, bank 2. I had it scanned at autozone since I don't have access to a scanner anymore, at least an OBDII scanner. I heard about the warranty, I bought the car used, does it matter? It didn't come with a warranty.

They should've been able to give you the actual code. You don't have to be the original owner - http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/4605/gmletterle2.jpg

Yep, that is the letter I got. I am going to call the dealer tomorrow and see whats up. I lost my letter though, hope that doesn't matter. Guess I will find out tomorrow, hopefully I can get this fixed and get my car sold this weekend!
