Default Code scan with custom tune?

I did a search and found nothing. My service engine soon light came on, I got a loaner scanner from autozone. Can you use this type of code reader on a custom tune? It smells quite rich from exhaust, but runs fine. The scanner says linking............then link error. It is an Actron CP9135 OBD2 Auto Scanner.

Just reading codes/looking at real time data won't affect the tune. I'm not familiar with that particular scanner, maybe it's not linking because the DLC port has no power? (Check the CIG ACCY fuse).

I thought if it had no fuse the unit would not power, I will check fuses though.

Well now that I found my blown acc fuse and code P0327, I know what I am buying next. A LS6 or FAST intake and front / rear knock sensors. Lesson learned on washing engine bay. Funny how things turn out, the intake was next on my list anyway.

Was hoping code was something simple...ls1howto.com has a guide if you don't know already.
