Default what to tune to chop up my idle

i have a 207/230 on a 121 LSA, needless to say it idles better then stock, haha

i really want to chop up the idle to keep up with my friends MS3, i only know one thing for sure, which is lower the idle, but im not sure if i should add timing or pull it to get it choppy

also are there any down sides to doing this? like wear and tear etc?

Try Less timing , leaner afrs, less idle rpm correction timing and you will have a hunting shaking animal

I wouldn't know. I tune my cars to make maximum HP and drivabity, not to win a peeing contest of "idle chopy-ness"

trust me i wont be anywhere near competing with my friends MS3, and have u ever heard a cam with a 121 LSA? it sounds like a stock camry.

and how would a choped idle make my car have less power and drivabilty?

Just get a different cam. It's an easy swap.

lower the idle speed to 600 - 650 rpm but tune it properly. Causing it to hunt/surge may come back to bite you in the *** when coming to a stop, etc.

No.... it won't.

I have a VERY similar turbo (slightly higher flowing) the 76GTS. I ran a small-ish 222/218 116lsa but the cam I have now is a 228/228 116 .589 and you can hear it through the turbo.

well i dont want to switch out the cam now, i just want to try and do it the easy way, also i dont want a big cam so i can keep noise down, the choopy 207 would sound much quieter then the choppy 224

Am I reading this correctly? You want to **** up your tune so your car won't idle in order to make it sound like a POS? Boca Raton must have good drugs! Get with the program and make your car sound like it runs. Give up the poser mentality! There is nothing better than outrunning a fuel-stinking, choppy-idleing rattletrap NA motor with a stock idleing FI motor.

while i do agree, many people have never heard a 121 LSA cam idle before, it sounds better then stock. i just want to make it so it wont sound so damn stock, imagine stock idle but alittle louder, thats what it is, all u hear is noise, theres no (how do i put this) "goodness" to it, just loud idle noise, i dont want people to think i have an extra loud stock motor

i just want to get alittle more out of it

im no genius, but i bet you could make more power and have your "choppy idle" with a different cam selection. even for a FI car 121 LSA is ridiculous IMO.

IMO, you are probably right, but I think his cam is a lingenfelter grind, designed to be "idiot-proof" and "emissions-friendly". I refuse to knock any working combo, but I will voice strong opinions when someone wants to screw up their ride.

Bwahaha. Come dude, man up.. 121LSA? Less timing and agressive overspeed/underspeed correction.. But WHY!?!!? You are going to dip down in gas mileage too. I wouldn't do it, as a "choppy idle" is just a pain in the ***. If you are going to the meetup tonight I will demo for ya.. heh. Hell, we could even hook the scanner up to your car and get that MAP kPa high.. I don't know tho.. You have a turbo car.. don't want to be putting more load on and leaning it out at idle. Wouldn't that be a stupid ****** way to grenade something.. At least you'd end up doing a cam swap. heh.

I swear dude, if you were a chick.. you'd stuff your bra. jk.. Leave the cammin to us N/A guys; you can scare the ricers with the FMIC.

And BTW: I have good news.. Its a 208.. not 207..

Oh yeah.. Even with my cam.. I noticed the inj pulse width go from 3.2-3.3 @ 700rpm to 3.0 at 900.. Granted I could use a few degrees more timing at idle but still. That nuts.. I think I am going to idle at 800 for a couple days and see if there is any real world difference in gas mileage..

Im not knockin your cam, but LSx engines love low LSA cams. I never even knew they made a 121 LSA cam.
