There's no need for a new harness. The one currently in your car will work just fine. However, you will need to remove almost all of the circuits from the red and blue connectors and repin them according to a later PCM. The only other thing you will need is a new PCM. Here's a few links with excellent information regarding the swap.

ShallowBay is correct with one caveat...If you or your tuner is using EFI Live.
Without it if you want the fuel gage to work you will have to swap the cluster and sending unit in the tank. Unless a HPT peep has an update, I don't believe you can swap calibration segments.

I'm going to try and read up on this some. Seems like it would be a good time to do it now that my car's down and everything is going to be coming out anyways.

I don't know how the fuel gage issue slipped my mind as I'm fine tuning it right now.

No more horses alone. Now if you are going to do H/C or some sort of power adder, N20, Forced induction, Turbo there are plenty of reasons to do this.

H/C- drivability, more tables for you or your tuner to smooth out your ride

N20- Be able to change your tune at the flip of a switch-pull timing/add fuel for safe spraying. Max motor tune, then flip switch for N20. Free and exculsively for EFI Live users.

FI- Added resolution / range. Once again, free for EFI Live users.

So that is why I originally asked you what your plans were/are for your car. If you are just going to stick with bolt-ons and not dive into the motor with a cam or whatnot then the 98 OS will serve well enough.

Here's an odd question, but relevent. I'm partially color blind how much more difficult would this be for me? It's mostly blue and purple, but other colors red / green / brown sometimes give me troubles.

Doc would know better then me, but if you can count and are very very careful when you remove wires from the connector color blind shoudnt be a problem, IE if you pull pin 25 from the red connector and label it then the wire colour shoudnt matter, but if you pull 3 wires at once and get them mixed up, you may not be able to tell them apart.

You must know someone that can help you that is not color blind? This is better as a two man job anyway. I sat and read down the list while my friend jabbed the wires in, lot easier than read stop...plug....look at the list...lose place...etc... I mean you can do it alone but you are just going to have a harder time locating the wires quickly as you will be relying on the labels more

You should be able to get the 11.9 with the MS4 alone at sea level. Yes, your car/application would be much more enjoyable all around by going with the newer pcm.
