Default EFI Live Pro's & Con's

I'm looking into getting EFI live for my 2005 GTO.

I'm having trouble with code PO757, due to a high stall converter (SS3600).

It seems that HP tuners cannot get to this code and turn it off on 05/06 GTO's.

Is there anything that's good or bad with EFI live that I should know before I plunk down $ 750?

1) EFI Live is the best money I've spent on any mod hands down. Don't really have a single complaint.

2) The P0757 refers to a stuck shift solenoid/valve. Are you sure that's because of the converter??

Not to be a cheerleader but I believe EFI-Live supports more parameters per calibration than HP Tuners. Not saying HP Tuners is a bad program.

They claim its due to the converter slippage. Most GTO guys are telling me to get rid of this code and I should be home free.

$ 750 is steep but if in the long run when I add cam/headers one day I'll need it anyway.

I was first an HP Tuners user, but had my eyes opened about the huge advantages of EFI Live by Geoff at Thunder Racing. I've never looked back since. It's that good.

The only negative thing is that the new V2 scantool can't do standalone logging yet, unlike the old V1 unit. It seems like introduction of this feature is perpetually "just around the corner," but it should be done soon. Otherwise, besides the occasional bug in the system, EFILIve is simply awesome.

I just ordered EFI Live from Thunder Racing.

I emailed EFI Live yesterday about the PO757 code and it does turn it off.

If you like, you can download the software from www.efilive.com/downloads, install it and play with it... without the hardware you can view the sample logs and edit the sample tunes (the sample logs/tunes are actually real ones)... you can enable cursor linking from scantool to tunetool, that's a very useful feature.

Last time I looked v2 also would not upload a tune from the handheld unit. The handheld thing seems like the main justification for the big price of v2, since you wouldn't need a laptop (if it did all the advertised functions). I would have gotten v2 except they didn't have the software ready, and now after many months they still don't, so wondering why they started selling it so early.

I think we're all a little anxious for the stand-alone features of V2.

In it's current firmware, V2 does check and clear DTC's. Hardware-wise V2 offers 2 additional 0-5vdc, additional type-K thermocouple inputs as well as serial input for direct communications to various devices.

Another big pro for EFILive is the Road Runner real time emulator

EFI Live is definitely one of the best things Ive spent my money on, I also love the free software updates and credit for hardware upgrades from being a previous EFI user.

I had ordered V1 just as availability of V2 was announced. I thought of upgrading, but decided against it and am SO glad I did. I do BB logging ALL the time ... like last night I was at the track and logged 7 passes ... what a pain if I had to be fiddling with my laptop at the tree ...

.. and its the only tuning solution to allow direct calculation of E38 ECM constants, factors and coefficients for VE calculations from a traditional VE table.

Without hijacking the thread, can you explain better what you mean? You can PM me.
I am new to EFIlive, been using HPT and TC for quite a while. Bought EFIlive for a few specific reasons. But, just did an 07 with the efilive, and the VE table looks just like the VE table in any of the 07s (E38s) I've done with HPT. Graphics are slightly different, but still set up the same. Nothing 'traditional' about them. If theres something I'm missing, by all means, clue me in.
Thanks

Thanks again, and if ya wanna pm so as not to hijack, that would be cool.
Havent read any of the help section, so it may be there and I just havent looked for it.
