Default Can't get rid of bad pop at 2800-3200

I will give the quick rundown of the problem and what has been done to try to resolve it. The car has an SD tune in it right know. No matter what program we run and there have been a few different ones tried. When you get on it in between 2800-3200 it wants to spit and pop, after that rpm range it pulls like a bitch. We have tried different plugs, wires, programs with various fuel tuning and it is still the same. It will not go away, it will not change in the rpm or anything it is very weird. If you drive it normally it will never act up just if you try to get on it in that rpm range. I am not the one tuning it so i do not know all the specifics but can try to answer any question you might have for me. Has anyone had this problem in the past and if so what has worked in trying to resolve the issue? Thanks for the help guys.

Originally had Tr6's replaced with Tr55's. Due to high compression thought we might get some detonation in the hot weather.

hmmm when my friends car was doing taht exact same problem i asked him if he had changed his plugs to those 2 strap bullshit plugs, told him to put some ngk's and it took care of that problem.

only other suggestion i could give you is to post up a log for other people to see, maybe they can see something

Thanks Reject. Have been told might be the reluctor wheel on the crank but I find that hard to believe since it only does it at that specific rpm range and no where else.

I def think it is in the ignition. So your thinking of the plugs is right on par with were we are looking.

it's somthing mechanical since you've tried different tunes. i was thinking maybe your fuel pressure is high at lower RPM's making it sputter and run rich, you could try hooking up a guage to the rail and checking to see if it's full PSI at idle vs high rpm's

I have an in car gauge in the dash, I will watch that as I try to duplicate the problem.

I will try to get you that info. I do know that he put timing in/out and no change. Also when it pops and carries on it does push black smoke out the pipes. It sounds like a lean pop but the AFR reads fine.

We have tried 1 bar/2 bar everything. Nothing will get rid of it. I am at the point where I will just deal with it. I understand that is a very large cam and shouldn't even have it on the street so I just need to compromise a little.
